Fashion is an expansive and expensive world. If you don’t know what you’re doing, it can be difficult to keep up with the latest trends without emptying your wallet on the reg. But before you spend a dime on that new jacket, shirt, or handbag — slow down and take a minute to make sure you’ve got some facts straight.Nsfw fashion is just a myth, after all.

10 Common Myths About Fashion :

1. A Man’s Clothes Don’t Make the Man

This myth is perhaps the most commonly misunderstood, especially by women. They believe that if a man doesn’t wear fashionable clothes, he’s not going to be attractive to women. In truth, no matter what a man wears, it’s up to him to make an impression on a woman.

It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing a suit or tattered jeans if you stand up straight and carry yourself with confidence. If a woman can’t see anything else in you other than “dumb jock” then she will still be drawn to the average guy who makes an effort.

2. There’s Nothing Worse than a Woman in Men’s Clothing

Now this may be true if the woman is wearing a large, baggy t-shirt that has been cut off at the arms and has a well-worn pair of jeans. Even women don’t like to see other women dressed in masculine clothing, so you’re better off leaving the men’s clothing for men.

But there are actually some good things about women who wear men’s clothes. One is that men’s clothing tends to be more tailored and fitted than women’s clothes so it can flatter your figure and make you look thinner. Also, no one can tell what gender you are the minute you open your mouth so having a manly voice doesn’t matter as much either.

3. All Black Clothing Looks Good on Everyone

This is completely false. Some people may look good in black, but some don’t. Black actually draws attention to anything that’s off. If you’re a little heavier than normal, it will make your stomach look bigger and if you have bad acne or blemishes, it will draw even more attention to them. A good book on fashion is the Fashion Bible by Jennifer Trant.

4. Bright Colors Look Good on Everyone

Some bright colors can certainly emphasize a woman’s natural beauty especially if she has fair skin and light colored eyes and hair, but other women simply do not look good in bright colors like orange or yellow. The truth is that you should never wear a color (or very few colors) which you can’t pull off. You don’t want to make a fashion faux pas and end up looking like an over-ripe pumpkin.

5. Fashion Tips Are Just as Important as Advice on Health and Wellness

Everyone enjoys reading fashion advice but it doesn’t really matter because most people would rather hear about diet and exercise. Fashion can be expensive, so when money is tight, fashions take a backseat to more important things in life. There are times when style doesn’t matter at all if you’re deeply depressed or going through another difficult transition in life.

6. Everyone’s Out to Make You Look Bad

This is a myth that many women believe. They think that fashion is often used to make women look bad by wearing unflattering clothes or even ugly shoes or earrings, but there’s nothing wrong with being a little different, as long as you are making an effort to look good and feel comfortable in what you’re wearing.

Fashion isn’t all about looking perfect – it can also be about standing out from the crowd with your own personal style. You can have both qualities at the same time and not worry about what other people think of you.

7. It’s Hard to Find Your Style

There is no one style that fits everyone. Everyone has their own special style, but it may take some time for them to find it. Your style depends on what makes you comfortable and confident. You can learn about different styles from books or fashion magazines, but the only way you can really find your own personal style is by experimenting with different clothes and accessories until you feel most like yourself.

8. Never Wear Anything That’s too Tight or Short

There are many things that you can do in order to prevent yourself from looking bad when wearing a tight shirt or short skirt. You can go for comfort and style at the same time. You can choose a skirt that’s not too short, but still shows off your legs. You may also want to wear a cover-up when you need to. If you’re not comfortable with how something fits or looks, try to find another way to wear it so that you don’t look tacky and cheap.

9. Wearing Socks With Sandals is So Last Season

This is just a myth, as wearing socks with sandals is fashionable again this year. You should wear whatever you feel is most comfortable and confidence-inspiring. Socks will certainly prevent you from getting a foot fungus, but if you think that sandals are more stylish.

10. Men’s Clothing for Women is Always the Best

If you’re wearing a men’s suit, it may fit your body better than women’s clothing. Still, there are many differences between the two that may make one style better for you than the other. For example, men’s clothing tends to be boxier and women’s clothes are more feminine with ruffles or cut-outs.
