Self entertainment is a fantastic way to temporarily relieve stress, kill time during downtime, or relax before bed. It’s basically much like watching Netflix or chilling with your best friend on the couch. There are so many different ways nowadays such as playing games online, watching videos on YouTube and the like but there are some more unconventional ways for those who look for them. Hostfest 2015 is a festival that focuses on the nightlife and culture of entertainment, which is exactly what it sounds like; a celebration of that exact thing.
Hostfest 2015, hosted by the University of Oregon brought in performers such as Pavlo, DJ Dachshund, Space Jurassic and others along with a few more acts for you to discover for yourself what it’s all about. There are countless reasons why one would want to attend this festival but I can only present one main reason: self entertainment. While I was at this event I was able to witness my peers try out things they had never done before and while they may not have liked it initially or felt social anxiety playing around with something unfamiliar – they ended up enjoying themselves.
You Should Experience Self Entertainment At Least Once In Your Lifetime And Here’s Why :
1. Defined
Self entertainment is much like any other form of entertainment. It’s defined by the simple fact that it has no objective; it’s just your own opinion. While some may think this event isn’t very important or even worthwhile, that’s not an argument against it; one must simply understand what they are getting into and make their own judgment on whether or not it’s something they want to do. There are countless things out there in the world you can do and we all have our preferences for those things and this is one of them. This is one of those events that you should do at least once in your lifetime.
2. Conversation
Most forms of entertainment involve engaging in conversation with other people, especially if you are going out to a movie or concert with friends. It’s much more fun to listen to someone describe their favorite movie or artist and to discuss it together as a group, comparing and contrasting what you have seen/heard yourself as well.
Hostfest 2015 was no exception as different groups from all around the University of Oregon had conversations while they were watching the acts perform which they enjoyed greatly. It was always interesting talking with different people and finding out how many other students were interested in the same art form or music genre that made them stand out.
3. Culture
Communication and learning about other cultures is very important for us as individuals because we are all different from each other in many ways and we learn more when we allow others to talk to us and share their knowledge with us. Hostfest 2015 was no exception as the events had a diverse group of people there representing just about any popular genre or culture you could think of, ranging from rap, to emcees, to indie rock.
You can learn so much by simply listening without the need for judgment or criticism which is something that is extremely important in society these days; especially when it comes to art such as music and the like.
4. Personal Growth
Self entertainment is something that is all about your growth and learning through mistakes as well as finding out what you do/don’t enjoy. There are many things that most people don’t like which they can change their minds about over time and it’s up to you whether or not you want to try them out for yourself.
Hostfest 2015 was a great way to try different art forms out like stand-up comedy, singing, acting and others in order to get a more in-depth experience of the world around you. It’s always good to try new things and most importantly experience something new for yourself because nothing is better than exploring your own mind, soul and body through arts.
5. You Make The Choices.
Self entertainment is something that should be experienced by all people so that we can put the things we do or don’t like in perspective for ourselves. You make the choices about what you like and do not like. If you think something is fun or if you are really into it – go ahead and try it out! It’s your own choice to either lean towards self entertainment or not and why it’s important to just do whatever you enjoy most in life.
This event was a great way to have some fun with your friends on a Friday night which makes everyone happy especially in a time when many students are stressed out with school work, studying, and other activities.
