These activities will help in calming

Did you know that there are several activities that can help in calming your mind?

If your children or students are experiencing anxiety here Clean ERSJ I recommend sharing these activities with them. Oftentimes, just finding the perfect activity to help calm them down is all it takes.

The following article is about ways in which people can relieve stress and anxiety.

If your child or student needs some time to recover it’s important to find something they will enjoy doing so they don’t feel like they need more attention from you.

The first activity is coloring; coloring requires both the right and left hemisphere of the brain to work together as colors need names and numbers to be accurate.

Since there are no wrong ways to color, this activity allows one’s imagination to roam free which can help reduce stress and increase relaxation.

Coloring also helps children and students with motor skills; practicing “fine motor” skills such as holding a pencil correctly and using the correct grip to make lines, circles or curves will improve their progress throughout their school years.

The second activity is unplugging from electronics such as tablets, smartphones, gaming systems and television; just the simple act of unplugging from technology for a few minutes will help bring clarity, motivation and creativity into one’s life.

List of activities that will help in calming :

1. Coloring:

The right and left brain need to work together to be successful in coloring. Coloring is a good way to bring creativity and imagination into one’s life and it also improves motor skills in children and students.

2. Unplugging:

Unplugging from technology for a few minutes will help bring clarity, motivation and creativity into one’s life.

3. Listening to relaxing music :

There are several ways that can help in calming down such as listening to calm music, reading a book or listening to motivational speeches such as Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have A Dream” speech which discusses the importance of the Civil Rights Movement in American History.

4. Praying:

Prayer can help in relieving stress and anxiety. I strongly recommend this for children, students and adults.  It’s important to relax and pray before starting a day.

It’s best to make time for prayer rather than pray when you need something or are stressed.

5. Meditating:

Meditation is another way of relaxing; it’s another way of self-healing and self-recovery.

Meditation helps balance the body and mind by quieting the busy mind and focusing on one thing such as an object, sound or thought that helps finding peace within yourself.

6. Listening to motivational speakers:

Listening to motivational speakers can help in calming nerves and anxiety through their inspirational speeches.

Here are some of the most famous inspirational speakers that have contributed to the world of Motivational Speaking starting with one of my personal favorites, “The Most Incredible Woman In The World”.

7. Going on a nature walk:

This will help relax on calm days when your child or student wants some time away from electronics.

Instead of focusing on something on the computer or television, take them on a nature walk on a quiet day where they can see nature rather than the things they got hooked on.

8. Camping:

Camping is one of the most relaxing things there is; it’s almost like meditation, seeing beautiful views and not having to worry about things like bills or chores can be relaxing.

Taking your children or students camping will help them clear their mind and relax which can help them become more resilient if they find themselves in situations that create stress and anxiety.

9. Watching cartoons :

Many children especially enjoy watching cartoons because it allows them to get out of their minds and get away from what stresses them out.

Cartoon characters are usually happy so getting away from negative news programs, social media or stressful situations can be very helpful.

10. Reading:

Reading is one of the best ways to relax and relieve stress and it’s beneficial to children and students rather than watching television or playing video games.

Studies show that reading relaxes the mind and relieves stress, anxiety and depression in children and students by focusing on a book which requires much less concentration than when reading something online or on a computer.

Books take your child or student into their imagination which can help in building their self-confidence since they are the ones imagining what the story is about, not some movie studio that makes movies based off of books.
