Hardaddy Shirts is a clothing company based in Denver, Colorado. The business was started by CEO and founder Josh Hardaker right before the release of his first children’s book, so it seemed only natural to put the two together and create a range of T-shirts that would look great on any child, kid or adult!
The most important thing about designing Hardaddy Shirts is to first come up with an idea for a t-shirt that you would like to own. What makes it different from other kids t-shirts out there on the market? For example, my idea was to create a range of illustrated children’s shirts that kids would love wearing and their parents would be comfortable with. What’s the whole point of making shirts if they aren’t going to be worn?
This step is really important because of the way it will set up your ideas so that you like them more. The idea I came up with was to make a series of children’s shirts that I wanted as a child of my own, and then to get other friends and family on board to help promote not just the new ideas but also making them as real as possible.
Once you have your idea, it needs to be shared with people. You start by building your website because you can’t go much further than that! Figure out how best to publish everything online, whether it be through an easy Facebook page or Pinterest page (the choice is yours).
It’s now time to get started on creating your product. Start by getting all of the clothes you’re going to need, whether they be t-shirts or blouses or anything else, printed or sewn! At this point it’s very important that you think creatively and that you plan ahead because you don’t want all of your hard work to have been wasted if your ideas don’t come together. I spent a lot of time coming up with the best shirts for girls, boys and adults alike, but did so by asking myself simple questions such as “does my shirt look like something that the kids on my street would wear?”
For this step I would recommend making a t-shirt one at a time. It’s not hard, and it will make sure that you get the best results the first time around. Be sure to write down everything that you need from your manufacturer, be specific about what size you want the shirts to be and exactly how they’ll be sewn. You want things to go as smoothly as possible because otherwise it can take up to 2 months to get your product after it’s been finished!
The best way to distribute your product is through your website and community. People want to know who you are and what you’re about, so make the most of any social media outlet you want to use by telling people about yourself, your product and why they should be buying it. At this point in time I would also recommend having a Facebook page where people can ask questions and get feedback. They will appreciate the chance to talk directly with you and won’t be as shy about buying something if they know it’s being made by a real person!
Now that you’ve got all of your t-shirts ready, it’s time to have the ultimate launch party. Invite the press and anyone else who is interested in your product and make sure they get some good photos of the kids wearing their Hardaddy Shirts.
The best part about having a great company is making sales. I knew that my target market was children because I wanted a young audience for my book, but it is important to know who you’re selling to because it will make all the difference when designing your t-shirt.
Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes things go wrong, but one thing is for certain: All children can benefit from a creation made by someone who has thought hard, taken risks and been creative. Whether it be a t-shirt or not, Hardaddy Shirts are the perfect way to let parents know that their child is special, smart and unique!
By launching Hardaddy Shirts I have created something really unique which is also fun. I don’t have any other products like it on the market or in my life so I’m proud of what I have created.
I know this is all a bit confusing and I hope that, after reading my blog, you are now more aware of what Hardaddy Shirts are. Also I’m hoping that raising the awareness of why you should have them will make more people buy them. There really isn’t a need for children to have so many t-shirts on their backs so I hope we can help rectify that.
