10 Must-haves Before Embarking On Hotel

There are a number of things you should plan on bringing before embarking on your hotel stay. Planning ahead and making sure to have these items can help you tremendously once you arrive at your destination. Check out these tophotelsglobally.com. If not, it may make for an inconvenient or uncomfortable stay and spoils your vacation.

Here are the top 10 time-saving must-haves for a hotel stay:

1. Plugs.

Bring your own extension cord and powerstrip so you can plug in all your devices.

2. Bath Towel and/or Sheets.

Most hotels will provide a towel when you check-in, but it can be very frustrating to get dressed in the morning only to find your bathroom has been stripped clean of all towels (then they take away your free ones!). A sheet, blanket or towel is worth the investment so your hotel does not take away the one you are using.

Bring a bag to stash dirty clothes inside your suitcase or bag. This will save you space and keep you organized. Any hotel will have an outlet in the bathroom and one or more outlets in the bedroom. You should bring your own plug converter/spanner to make sure everything is as it should be and fully operational each night.

3. Iron and Ironing board.

Most hotels provide an iron and ironing board in the room or at least a dryer (for towels). But if you like to look neat and tidy when venturing out, it may be a good idea to invest in your own so you can show off your best outfit!

4. Travel journal/Diary.

Many people enjoy keeping a journal during their vacation. It helps them relax and process the trip by writing down their experiences and filling in the blanks. If you’re one of these people, I recommend bringing a high quality diary ahead of time so you can write down your thoughts as you travel. If you’re traveling alone or with just one other person, it’s a good idea to bring along a travel journal/diary of sorts that will help you remember all the details of your trip well after you get home.

5. Local Area Map.

It’s always helpful to have a local area map of your destination and it should be something you use, even if you’re just visiting the city center. The best way to get this is by using a phone application such as Google Maps or one downloaded from an app store.

6. Reading Glasses/Reading Lenses/Contacts

It sounds rather silly, but there are times when being able to read the menu at breakfast can help save you quite a bit of money. It’s also worth keeping some print-outs of various sites that can help you navigate your way around the city during your stay so there are no nasty surprises when leaving later in the day.

7. Ear Plugs .

Sometimes hotels will provide ear plugs in the bathroom but they can be really annoying to sleep with, especially if you suffer from noise-induced insomnia. There are some nice soft foam ones that you can buy from a pharmacy for about $10 that are worth investing in if it’s something you normally do – and there’s no harm in being prepared for a few nights of bad sleep!

8. Luggage tags (one per piece of luggage).

If you’re checking-in a large suitcase, consider getting your own tag as a couple of them may not always make it through the check-in line and it’s also useful if you need to call someone and have them locate your bag.

9. Aesthetically-pleasing items.

If you’re staying in a hotel, it’s nice to be able to bring some items that are pleasing to look at while in the room. Bringing along a few photos, candles, a little cactus plant or something else that’s pleasing can help make your stay far more comfortable and relaxing. Just don’t overdo it (just one or two things is more than enough).

10. A bag/suitcase lock (depending on what you choose to bring).

Don’t let the hotel staff rummage through your stuff! They may look at it as their job but they will not keep what they find secret – especially if they find anything valuable.

There are many other things that can make for a more comfortable stay such as shampoos and conditioners, but the ones listed above are by far the most important in terms of getting you from A to B and back.

Summary:

A hotel can be a wonderful place to relax, unwind, and hopefully enjoy all that your destination has to offer. But it’s also an opportunity to spend some time away from home so it’s worth preparing beforehand for what you’ll need for this new experience. It can be a struggle to fit everything into your luggage so it’s helpful to have some of the items mentioned above with you, but not too many as you may need to cut some out for space.
